Past - Present - Future

Educating since 2005

The Past                       The Present                        The Future

The Past

In September 2005 Sharm British School opened its doors in Coral Bay resort to 34 students in two classes; an Early Years class, taught by Sharleen Maddox and a Foundation Two class, taught by Nicholas Rowe.

The school began with the pioneering vision of a few local parents and long-term Sharm residents, Mr. Bruno Jarach, Ms. Elena Callegari and Mr. Chad Clark.  Mr. Gerard Flynn and Mrs. Barbara Flynn, of Maadi British International School in Cairo, provided invaluable guidance as Educational Consultants.

The Sharm el Sheikh Cultural Society was established as an NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) in 2008.

Between 2005 and 2010 the school was led by head teachers Sharleen Maddox and Nicholas Rowe, who successfully developed the school from Early Years through to Year 5, ensuring the school's reputation grew along with its community.

After giving 5 years of loyal service to Sharm British School, Nick and Sharleen left the school in July 2010 to return to their home in New Zealand.

A move out of the original location and into larger accommodation became necessary, to cater for the schools burgeoning roll and to provide a British secondary school education for the Sharm community. Mr Robert Graves took over as headteacher from September 2010 and developed the school from a primary school to include a secondary provision.

The Present

Sharm British School provides a high quality education to its students in a stimulating, caring and quality learning environment. The school is staffed by a professional and dedicated staff team who, together with the families, make Sharm British School the special place that it is.

The Future

Sharm British School will continue to grow along with its students; we hope to offer IGCSE programmes of study to our students in the future.  As student numbers increase, a second floor will be added to the school building, extending teaching and learning facilities for Sharm’s growing student population.
