In September 2005 Sharm British School opened
its doors in Coral Bay resort to 34 students in two classes; an Early Years
class, taught
by Sharleen Maddox and a Foundation Two class, taught by Nicholas Rowe.
The school began with
the pioneering vision of a few local parents and long-term Sharm residents, Mr.
Bruno Jarach, Ms. Elena Callegari and Mr. Chad Clark. Mr. Gerard Flynn and Mrs.
Barbara Flynn, of Maadi British International School in Cairo, provided
invaluable guidance as Educational Consultants.
The Sharm el Sheikh Cultural Society was established as an
NGO (Non
Governmental Organisation) in 2008.
Between 2005 and 2010 the school
was led by head teachers Sharleen Maddox
and Nicholas Rowe, who successfully developed the school from Early Years
through to Year 5, ensuring the school's reputation grew along with its
community.
After giving 5 years of
loyal service to Sharm British School, Nick and Sharleen left the school in
July 2010 to return to their home in New Zealand.
